The Jeebropilly mine has operated in Amberley, Queensland since 1982. The open cut, multi-thin-seam mining operation is owned by the New Hope Group.
The mine is operated by West Morton and it uses the multi-thin-seam operation which utilises trucks, excavators and front end loaders. Overburden is blasted by bulldozers prior to extraction.
Operating hours at the mine were reduced from six to five days a week last year due to the economic downturn. The mine produces on average 1.2 million tonnes per annum.
